BougeRV’s Electric Foldable Wagon Combines Power, Portability, and a Few Perks for the Price

BougeRV’s Electric Foldable Wagon Combines Power, Portability, and a Few Perks for the Price | Visionary CIOs

A Motorized Upgrade for Heavy Lifting

BougeRV, a brand known for luxury outdoor gear, has introduced an electric foldable wagon designed to ease the burden of transporting heavy loads across challenging terrain. Priced at $399.99, this wagon is aimed at adventurers, beachgoers, and anyone regularly hauling gear over hills or uneven ground. While electric wagons are still a rarity, BougeRV’s version stands out for its performance on inclines and its generous capacity.

Testers found the wagon especially useful in hilly environments. With a motor-assisted push, the wagon can carry up to 200 kilograms (about 440 pounds) with minimal human effort—even over steep 10% grade inclines. The motor does most of the work, leaving the user to simply steer. The cart’s base capacity is 180 liters but can expand to 250 liters when the tailgate is opened, accommodating bulky items like paddleboards and surf gear. It’s also sturdy enough to transport children, pets, or even an adult.

The wagon is powered by two rear-wheel drive motors producing 11Nm of torque and offers three speed settings: low, medium, and high. Medium and high were found to best match a brisk walking pace on flat surfaces, and an electronic reverse mode adds convenience when maneuvering in tight spots.

Features, Flaws, and Everyday Use

Despite its many strengths, the BougeRV’s electric foldable wagon isn’t without drawbacks. The cart is rated as weather-resistant, suitable for light rain or damp conditions, but lacks an official IP rating for water and dust resistance. Although it held up after a night in mild rain and blowing sand, users are advised to remove the battery when storing outdoors and consider purchasing a cover—surprisingly not included, even at this price point.

The control system features two yellow throttle levers and two red sliders for braking. Though it allows for one-handed use, the controls require a bit of practice. The cart also includes a display screen that’s largely unreadable in sunlight, and its basic functionality is hindered by missing or dim segments, especially on the review unit tested. Other features include an auto shut-off after idling and warning beeps when folded while still powered on—quirks that feel more annoying than helpful.

While the cart performs admirably on flat and moderately rough terrain—including cobblestones and sand-covered pavement—it struggles on soft, drift-like sand and becomes jerky and unpredictable downhill. The electronic brake proved ineffective on slopes unless accompanied by a mechanical footbrake, and operating the power system downhill often required turning the cart off and manually controlling it using the handle.

A Worthy Investment for the Right User

BougeRV’s electric foldable wagon claims that can travel up to 12 miles on a full charge, thanks to its 133Wh rechargeable battery. The battery is removable, USB-C rechargeable, and can double as a power bank with both USB-A and USB-C ports. In testing, the wagon handled about 5km of use, including steep inclines, without draining more than 25% of its battery, which is impressive for its compact size.

At 18kg (about 40 pounds), the wagon isn’t lightweight, but it folds down compactly for easy transport in a car or van. Given its performance on hills, motorized assistance, and extended range, BougeRV’s electric foldable wagon offers excellent utility for those with regular hauling needs. While some design quirks may require getting used to, for many, the convenience and power will more than justify the $400 investment.
