As the Founder of Well & Aware, Inc., she champions a distinct blend of ancient Chinese energetic medicine wisdom and cutting-edge Western medicine—emphasizing proactive self-care and integrative health-care practices over-reactive treatments.
Driven by a lifelong passion for comprehensive health, Dr. Couturier has spent over 25 years navigating cultural resistance and overcoming personal adversity, including her son’s health struggles, to build a pioneering organization that empowers individuals to take charge of their health and well-being. As Well & Aware, Inc. continues to expand, Dr. Couturier’s vision for an integrative healthcare synergy that prioritizes empowered responsibility, balance, and individual needs is shaping the future of wellness—emerging as one of the most visionary business leaders to watch in 2025.
Vision Behind Well & Aware, Inc
Dr. Couturier’s journey toward establishing Well & Aware, Inc. was sparked by a fundamental belief in the importance of cultivating wellness and the necessity of educating others about it. Reflecting on the early days of her mission, she recalls the lack of awareness regarding holistic health practices, particularly in the USA, where people rely heavily on medication and doctor visits instead of embracing a proactive approach to health.
“Wellness was not well understood,” Dr. Couturier explains. “People didn’t know about mindfulness, breath cultivation, and meditation or practices like yoga and Qigong. Mindfulness and self-care were not mainstream, and many still saw health as something to manage only through doctors and pills. I wanted to change that.”
This vision for change began more than 25 years ago when Dr. Couturier saw an opportunity to educate the public on the essential connection between mindfulness, good metabolism, gentle movement, and overall well-being. Hailing from a background where health cultivation was a part of her upbringing, Dr. Couturier had always been drawn to holistic practices. She grew up in France, where her parents instilled the importance of a disciplined approach to life and health. A lifelong practitioner of meditation, yoga, and other wellness practices, she was uniquely positioned to pioneer a new way of thinking about health and wellness in a community that lacked the knowledge she was passionate about sharing.
In her late teens, she moved to the United States, which opened the door to a deeper exploration of her call to experiencing greater freedom for once innate ability to flourish.. With her upbringing rooted in strong French values, combined with her interest in Eastern practices and a dedicated focus to integrative health, Dr. Couturier was inspired to take action—leading to the creation of Well & Aware, Inc., a company dedicated to raising awareness and providing resources for people to actively participate in their own wellness journey.
Standing Out and Addressing Today’s Challenges
Well & Aware, Inc. is a pioneer in bridging Eastern and Western medicine, offering an integrative approach to health and wellness. Dr. Couturier’s unique journey as a healthcare practitioner has equipped her to merge these two worlds in a way that addresses and simplifies the challenges of modern healthcare.
Dr. Couturier trained in both Western and Eastern medicine practices, which set her apart in the wellness industry. “I’ve always had a calling for medicine,” she explains, “but I didn’t want to be just another doctor prescribing medication. I knew there had to be more to it.” Her desire to provide a deeper level of care led her to pursue simultaneous training in osteopathy, craniosacral therapy, Chinese energetic medicine, and medical Qigong—allowing her to offer a more comprehensive solution to health issues.
However, in the early years, there was considerable resistance to Eastern practices such as Qigong, and Chinese medicine. Many people were unfamiliar with these techniques, and the cultural divide between Eastern and Western medicine led to friction. “There was a lot of antagonism and misunderstanding,” Dr. Couturier recalls, but her belief through witnessing the efficacy of these integrative practices fueled her determination. She pushed forward, knowing she had the strength and conviction to make a difference.
A pivotal moment in Dr. Couturier’s journey occurred when her son, Dorian, was diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. The prognosis was grim—doctors predicted he would not live past his teenage years and did not offer any remedy. Faced with this most troubling reality, Dr. Couturier sought unconventional medical practices questioning such a bleak outlook.
“I knew there was more to it,” she shares. This led her to explore Eastern medicine, including medical Qigong, and to seek out practitioners in both the US and Europe. These practices, along with craniosacral therapy and osteopathy, offered awareness and healing that traditional medicine could not provide.
Her commitment to her son’s life and well-being became the driving force behind Well & Aware, Inc. “I had to make the best choices for Dorian. His life was short, and that realization made me appreciate the value of every moment more so deeply,” she reflects. This profound personal experience shaped the company’s core values and approach. It was through discovering effective ways to meet this challenge that Dr. Couturier developed the momentum to continuously evolve and build Well & Aware, Inc., with a focus on integrative care that empowers individuals to take charge of their health.
Today, Well & Aware, Inc. stands as empowerment for those seeking a congruent approach to their health—one that goes beyond just treating symptoms. Dr. Couturier’s personal journey, combined with her unique training, has allowed her to lead the company with a deeper understanding of both the science and the spirituality behind wellness and well-being—making it a truly transformative force in the industry.
Advancing Integrative Health
Dr. Couturier and Well & Aware, Inc have played a key role in advancing integrative health, offering innovative approaches that promote wellness and healing.
Dr. Couturier emphasizes the importance of practicing what she preaches to balance her professional responsibilities with personal growth and well-being. Her approach is rooted in cultivating and developing one’s energy, or “Qi/ pronounced chi,” as she teaches through CranioSacralQigong. She explains that true wellness involves a comprehensive understanding of the interconnectedness of the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies, with the environment, something mostly overlooked in Western medicine.
She also shares how this practice has been essential in orchestrating her personal life, particularly as a single mother raising a son who faced serious health challenges. Her son, despite being physically disabled, lived a healthy and fulfilling life, nearly doubling his life expectancy and inspired her to focus on mental and emotional strength.
This practice of energy cultivation, Qigong, allowed her to access the puissance, and precision which helped her navigate both her personal and professional worlds effectively. By developing her Qi, she could achieve a steady flow with an energetic mindset that supported her life’s mission of helping others while fostering a unique sense of deeply rooted well-being for herself, her clients and her students.
Envisioning The Future
Well & Aware, Inc., under the leadership of Dr. Couturier, is focused on expanding its offerings and reach through the development of online courses. The organization is aiming to launch these courses by the spring, with plans to also create a certification process for practitioners. This will enable individuals to become certified in craniosacralqigong practice, the method she has developed over the decades fostering the cultivation of Qi — which leads to developing more potency, energy for empowered health balance, emotional health, mindfulness and the ability to remain peaceful and performant even when meeting some of the greatest challenges life can bring about..
Dr. Couturier also serves on the board of the National Qigong Association (NQA), which is the main certification body for Qigong. Well & Aware, Inc. will be closely connected to NQA’s standards for certification. Moreover, Dr. Couturier’s first book, Craniosacralqigong Vol.1 Pathways to Consciousness Power which provides empirical evidence supporting the teachings of Qi cultivation within the craniosacral therapy process, is distributed by reputable institutions such as the Harvard bookstore and the Qigong Institute—aligning her work with scientific evidence.
Through various initiatives, Dr. Couturier aims to continue educating on an integration which has led to a fusion of Eastern with Western medicine, offering a comprehensive approach to health and wellness that integrates mind, body, and spirit. By bringing this knowledge to a wider audience, she hopes to pass these teachings on and make them accessible to anyone interested in self-development and integrative health-care.
