Intel Corporation has appointed semiconductor veteran Seok-Hee Lee as executive vice president of Intel Foundry, tasking him with leading advanced packaging and back-end manufacturing to strengthen system-level innovation.
Strategic Shift in Foundry Leadership
Lee will report directly to CEO Lip-Bu Tan, overseeing advanced packaging, system integration, and back-end technology development. The company is establishing advanced packaging as a focused business unit, reflecting its critical role in enhancing performance and power efficiency for complex artificial intelligence systems.
“Advanced packaging and system integration are becoming defining capabilities for next-generation computing systems,” said Lip-Bu Tan, Intel CEO. “Seok-Hee brings deep expertise in leading complex, high-scale technology and manufacturing organizations, along with a strong track record of operational execution.”
Tan emphasized that Lee is the right leader to scale this business segment as the company prepares to ramp up high-volume production for technologies including EMIB-T and HBI.
Leveraging Industry Expertise
Lee joins Intel from his previous position as president and CEO of SK On. He also served as president and CEO of SK hynix and held earlier engineering leadership roles at Intel. His return signifies a focus on utilizing deep experience in large-scale manufacturing to meet evolving customer demands.
“Intel is uniquely positioned to lead in advanced packaging as demand for system-level integration accelerates across AI and high-performance computing,” Lee said. “I’m excited to return home and to join the Intel team as we help advance the company’s technology leadership, manufacturing capabilities, and customer commitments.”
Restructuring for Scalable Growth
In conjunction with this leadership change, Naga Chandrasekaran, executive vice president of Intel Foundry, continues to lead front-end technology development and manufacturing, reporting to CEO Tan. Chandrasekaran will remain focused on accelerating the production ramp of Intel 18A, Intel 14A, and subsequent technologies, while maintaining oversight of design enablement and customer-facing functions.
The reorganization creates a more focused, scalable operating model intended to increase predictability for partners. Intel also announced the retirement of executive vice president Navid Shahriari following a 37-year career with the company.
