Nationwide Closure Announced for Easter Weekend
Lowe’s, one of the largest home improvement retail chains in the United States, has announced that all 1,700 of its store locations will shut down for a full 24 hours on April 20. The company’s decision, led by Chairman and CEO Marvin Ellison, aims to recognize and reward its workforce of over 300,000 employees by giving them time off to celebrate Easter with their families. Stores will close at 10 p.m. local time on April 19 and will reopen at 6 a.m. local time on April 21.
CEO Praises Employees’ Dedication
In a statement reported by Fox 10 Phoenix, Ellison praised the dedication and service of Lowe’s associates, particularly during the busy spring season, as Lowe’s to Close All Stores. “I’m extremely proud of the commitment of our 300,000 associates who support our communities while providing excellent customer service not only in spring – but all year-round,” he said. “In recognition of our teams’ continued hard work, we are pleased to provide a well-deserved day off so they can spend Easter with their loved ones.”
This will mark the fourth consecutive year that Ellison has implemented a company-wide closure for Easter, reinforcing a growing tradition of prioritizing employee well-being and family time. His identical message in 2023 emphasized the same values, demonstrating consistency in the company’s approach to team appreciation.
Holiday Operations at Lowe’s
Lowe’s to Close All Stores on selected dates to honor its employees remains operational on many major holidays such as New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, and the Fourth of July. In addition to Easter, the company also closes its doors on Thanksgiving and Christmas. These scheduled breaks allow employees to enjoy quality time with their families during important celebrations, aligning with the company’s employee-first ethos.
By offering a full day off on Easter, Lowe’s continues to set an example in the retail industry, emphasizing that business success is rooted in the satisfaction and dedication of its workforce. Customers planning home improvement projects during the Easter weekend are encouraged to make their purchases in advance or wait until stores reopen on April 21.
